    Excel in Basketball Camps and Golden State Sports Academy, two of the Bay Area’s most popular and long-standing basketball camps, are teaming up again for Thanksgiving Break Camp! Players can stay active, have fun, and continue developing their game while school is out.

      • Registration is limited and acceptance is on a “first come-first served” basis.

    Agenda

    Station Drills

    Players rotate through skill stations focused on fundamental basketball skills.

    • Passing
    • Shooting
    • Defense
    • Dribbling
    • Rebounding
    • Post Play
    • 1v1, 2v2, 3v3 and 5v5 game situations

    Each station is designed to maximize repetitions and build confidence with the ball.


    Pistol Pete Ballhandling Series

    Each camper participates in the famous Pistol Pete Maravich ballhandling drills, improving coordination, hand speed, and control.


    Dribble Series

    Afternoon dribbling workouts where every player works with a ball, focusing on control, speed, and creativity.


    Free Throw Training

    Players practice free throws daily with competitions throughout the week.


    Fast Break Development

    Players learn how to attack the basket through structured drills progressing from:

    • 2 on 1
    • 3 on 2
    • Full court transition offense
    Compete

    League Games

    Players are placed in divisions based on age and ability.

    Each camper plays two 5-on-5 league games per day.


    This means campers will often play 10 games in one week, more game experience than many rec leagues provide.


    Competitions Include

    • 1 on 1 championships
    • Free throw competitions
    • Team league standings
    • End-of-week awards

    These competitions help build confidence and game IQ.


    Fundamentals

    Fundamentals

    Campers work on a full range of basketball fundamentals.

    • Shooting mechanics
    • Passing technique
    • Ballhandling
    • Offensive moves
    • Defensive footwork
    • Rebounding
    • Game situations and decision making

    Players develop both individual skills and team play concepts.


    Experience

    Skill Stations

    Camp begins each day with around 8 skill stations where campers rotate through different basketball skills.


    Daily Coaching Lectures

    Coaches meet with campers each day to discuss:

    • Basketball fundamentals
    • Leadership
    • Work ethic
    • Confidence

    These sessions are designed to help players grow both on and off the court.


    End of Week Report Cards

    At the end of the week, campers receive a personalized report card from our coaching staff outlining their strengths, progress, and areas to continue developing after camp.
